Sample Jones Residence Automation System Operation

Please note: The sample touchscreen designs shown in this document are only samples of screens.

Many pages are omitted to limit the size of this document. They are here only to show how the system will function. All our systems are designed to provide you the ability to jump from one control page to any other in 1 or 2 touches. Other systems can require up to 15 button presses to get to a page to turn a light on!

The screens designed for your system will look the way you want them to. Screens for your system will be different colors, have different icons, be in different order, or have more or fewer pages than these samples.

Welcome Screen
This is the sample opening screen for all the larger touch screens. The buttons shown (with the exception of the opening picture) will appear in the same position on all the touch screens in the system. The buttons are touch sensitive and will perform their assigned function when touched with light finger pressure. These buttons will function in the same manner for all the screens in the system. These buttons can be labeled with text or can have pictures or icons on them (as you will see in the AV pages). The buttons along the bottom of the screen lead to pages that control those systems.

The control system is designed so that you never need to press more than one button to get to any subsystem control page from anywhere in the system. From any individual audio video source control page it is one touch to go to the security page and from there view cameras or lock all the doors in the house.

The buttons along the bottom and the sides of the screens are always there, allowing you to jump from one system to another without having to back out of several levels of menus or pages to turn on the lights (for example). All touch panels have local (the room you are in) lighting and volume controls available at all times. In addition if you have motorized window treatments or electronic door locks, those buttons will also be available. Whether you are listening to the background music, CD player, or the television, the volume down button will control that device. The lighting button may vary based upon the type of lighting system you have installed.

The central area of the screen will change based on system selected, as shown in the following pages.

Entry Control Screen
On this sample screen the bordering icons operate in the same way as they do for the Welcome Screen. As you can see the Entry controls button is depressed, showing you that you are in the Entry Controls page.

The gray area in the center is the video portion of the screen, any CCTV camera images will be shown in this area. Using the buttons on the screen you can select a camera to view, open the gate or the selected door, or even lock down the entire house should you perceive a threat.

As mentioned above, all the buttons on the side and bottom of the screen will allow local control, and you can jump to another subsystem with ONE button press.

Climate control Screen
On this sample screen the bordering icons operate in the same way as they do for the Welcome Screen. As you can see the Climate controls button is depressed, showing you that you are in the Climate Controls page.

Using the buttons on the screen you can select an area for status and control. Simply touch a button for a room and the information for that room will be displayed, you can then change the mode or set point of the heating or cooling for that area.

If you desire, instead of a text based system, this could be a floor plan display and show the temperature and set points in each room.

While you have manual control of the system, the climate controls would normally be integrated so that the security system would give us occupancy information and we would set the climate modes accordingly.

As mentioned above, all the buttons on the side and bottom of the screen will allow local control, and you can jump to another subsystem with ONE button press.

Satellite A/V Control Screen
On this sample screen the bordering icons operate in the same way as they do for the Welcome Screen. As you can see the Audio Video controls button is depressed, showing you that you are in the Audio Video Controls page. In addition the SAT button is depressed showing you that you are watching the satellite on your home theater or media room.

This same type of control would be used for a satellite control page your Master Bedroom system. By using the same controls throughout the house there is no "learning curve" for different systems. While each may use different models of equipment with corresponding different remotes and modes of operation, we have provided the same controls on each Touchpanel. We learn the differences in equipment and program our controls so that there is no difference to you.

Should you desire we will provide "favorite channel" buttons as shown here for your most watched channels to simplify your viewing.

The center portion of the screen will change depending on the source equipment being controlled, however, the Satellite page, the DVD, page, the VCR page, etc. will all be the same on every Touchpanel.

As mentioned above, all the buttons on the side and bottom of the screen will allow local control, and you can jump to another subsystem with ONE button press.

CD Changer A/V Control Screen
On this sample screen the bordering icons operate in the same way as they do for the Welcome Screen. As you can see the Audio Video controls button is depressed, showing you that you are in the Audio Video Controls page. In addition the CD button is depressed showing you that you are listening to the CD Changer in your home theater or media room.

This same type of control would be used for a CD changer control page your Master Bedroom system. By using the same controls throughout the house there is no "learning curve" for different systems. While each may use different models of equipment with corresponding different remotes and modes of operation, we have provided the same controls on each Touchpanel. We learn the differences in equipment and program our controls so that there is no difference to you.

Security Control Screen
On this sample screen the bordering icons operate in the same way as they do for the Welcome Screen. As you can see the Security controls button is depressed, showing you that you are in the Security Controls page.

The exact buttons and information on this page will vary depending on the level of sophistication of your security systems and features it will allow an outside system to access and control.

As mentioned above, all the buttons on the side and bottom of the screen will allow local control, and you can jump to another subsystem with ONE button press.

CCTV Control Screen
On this sample screen the bordering icons operate in the same way as they do for the Welcome Screen. As you can see the CCTV controls button is depressed, showing you that you are in the CCTV Controls page.

The gray area in the center of the screen will show the video image from the CCTV camera you select. Overlaid on the screen will be transparent buttons allowing you to control the pan tilt and zoom functions of cameras that have the capability.

And again, there is a Lock House button in the event there is a threat perceived.

The CCTV cameras can be logged digitally (for later review), as well as made available over a secure internet server so that you can view your home remotely with the proper access codes.

As mentioned above, all the buttons on the side and bottom of the screen will allow local control, and you can jump to another subsystem with ONE button press..

Pool and Spa Control Screen
On this sample screen the bordering icons operate in the same way as they do for the Welcome Screen. As you can see the Pool controls button is depressed, showing you that you are in the Pool Controls page.

This page will allow you to control the pool and spa temperature as well as other features.
This page may change depending on the type of pool and spa controls used on your home.

As mentioned above, all the buttons on the side and bottom of the screen will allow local control, and you can jump to another subsystem with ONE button press.
